Beautiful and unique necklace.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese aesthetic Wabi Sabi, embracing beauty in imperfection and impermanence.
This piece is simple yet striking.
Two layers of copper formed together. Enamelled with blues and red. Natural copper reverse.
The pendant is approx’ 3.5cm x 3cm with rose gold plated chain approx’ 45cm long.
Wabi-sabi is the view or thought from Japanese aesthetics of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature and sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent and incomplete”. I use this to describe some of my jewellery when I start off with just a piece of blank imperfect metal and no pre dispositions as to what that piece will be so it evolves naturally to become what it becomes within the aesthetic, which include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, austerity and modesty and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature.
