‘Wabi sabi’ Necklace.

‘Wabi sabi’ inspired handmade enamelled necklace.

Out of stock

Beautiful and unique necklace.

Inspired by the traditional Japanese aesthetic Wabi Sabi, embracing beauty in imperfection and impermanence.

This piece is rustic and simple, with a contrast of earthy tones and texture.

Two pieces of copper are formed together and decorated in a variety of techniques using glass enamels, 925 silver wire, and silver foils. The reverse will show a working texture.

The pendant is approx’ 5cm x 2.5cm and the dark brown/black waxed cord is approximately 65/66cm long including rose gold plated crab claw fixing.

Wabi-sabi is the view or thought from Japanese aesthetics of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature and sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent and incomplete”. I use this to describe some of my jewellery when I start off with just a piece of blank imperfect metal and no pre dispositions as to what that piece will be so it evolves naturally to become what it becomes within the aesthetic, which include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, austerity and modesty and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature.
